Since Charlotte would pay a little bit of attention to her (i.e. I would get up and throw her ball out of the basket so Charlotte wouldn't chew on it), Matilda thought she hit the jackpot with Dad's babysitting method... her object of affection was immobile and didn't completely ignore her.
